What does Split PDF do?
Split PDF lets you take pages from a larger PDF and create new PDF files from only the pages you need. You can extract selected pages into one document, create separate PDFs for custom page ranges, or split every page into its own file. This is useful when a large document contains several sections that need to be shared, stored or uploaded separately.

Toolmivo provides three split modes because extracting a few pages is different from creating many separate files.
Extract selected pages to one PDF
Combines all requested pages into one new PDF. Use this when the pages belong together and should be downloaded as a single document.
Create one PDF per range
Creates a separate PDF for each range you enter. This is useful when different sections of a document need to become separate files.
Split every page
Creates one PDF for every source page. This is useful when each page needs to be stored, renamed or distributed independently.
Page ranges
How to enter PDF page numbers and ranges
Page numbers start at 1. Use a hyphen to define a continuous range and commas to separate multiple ranges or individual pages. Toolmivo validates the input before creating the output files.

Extracting pages and splitting every page are different
Extract mode is useful when you want to keep several selected pages together inside one PDF. Splitting every page produces many individual files instead. Choosing the correct mode before processing avoids unnecessary files and makes the result easier to manage.

How Toolmivo splits PDF files
Toolmivo reads the source PDF in your browser and creates new PDF documents from the pages you request. Unlike the Compress PDF tool, this workflow does not intentionally rasterise every page into an image. The selected source pages are copied into new PDFs.

Why ZIP?
Why some split modes produce a ZIP file
A split operation can create many PDFs. Downloading ten, twenty or fifty files individually would require many separate browser downloads, so multiple outputs can be grouped into a ZIP archive. After downloading, extract the ZIP to access the individual PDF files.
File size
Does splitting a PDF make the files smaller?
Splitting reduces the number of pages in each output file, but it is not the same as PDF compression. A three-page extract from a hundred-page document will usually be smaller than the original because it contains fewer pages, but the content of those selected pages is not being aggressively recompressed simply because the document was split.
Need fewer pages?
Use Split PDF to remove pages that are not needed in the new document.
Need stronger file-size reduction?
Compress PDF is designed for suitable scanned and image-heavy PDFs, but its raster workflow has different trade-offs.

Tips for splitting PDF files safely
- Check the page count first. Avoid entering page numbers that do not exist in the source PDF.
- Use clear ranges. A format such as 1-3,5,8-10 is easier to review before processing.
- Choose the correct mode. Extract creates one combined result, while range and single-page modes can create multiple files.
- Open the generated files after splitting. Confirm that every required page is present.
- Keep the original PDF for important records. Do not delete the source until you have verified all outputs.
Large PDFs
Why large PDFs can take longer to split
The browser must read the source document and copy the requested pages into new files. Large PDFs, many output ranges and documents with heavy page content can use more memory and take longer to process. The practical limit depends on the browser and the available memory of the device.

Does splitting rasterise the pages?
